about

On “Witness the Insurgence”, Dhangsha employs the signature “acid bass” sound of a Roland TB-303. While countless recordings in house and techno music have used this instrument for more than 30 years, Dhangsha reminded us that at its origins, “acid or acid bass is another Black musical innovation.” When he uses it on “Witness”, he too seeks innovation as he arranges a disruptive set of rhythms and effects as well as a deliberate use of silence to accentuate the bilingual English and Indigenous African language dub poetry vocals of Sankara Future Dub Resurgence’s Kabaka Labartin Klacity.

lyrics

Witness The Insurgence Lyrics

This is future dub for the liberation of the people of West Papua
Coming to you in front for Lake Nalubaale, Uganda.

This has always been our land, where we began ,with its sweet waters
sweet waters of welcome
here we continue to flow from
and it is here we continue to return
to foundation restoration
joining sky and earth again

“where are the people at ease with silence?” in english and then again in swahili
