This track features the indigenous Krikati people who live in Maranhão,Brazil . They were involved in direct action resistance against state authorities when IR recorded them on their territory in Brazil.The lyrics which are in the indigenous language Je ,means" The resistance underground continues " when translated into english.
This track "Krikati Empowerment Mix" was part of a larger collaborative project done in 2009: IR 14 Direct Action Dubmissions (available as a Free Dub download at www.dubdem.com.br). The collaboration featured the dub mixing techniques of Jamaican studio production legend Steve Stanley (best known for his work with Black Uhuru, Tom Tom Club, Grace Jones and more), the Detroit techno frequencies of Underground Resistance’s Mad Mike Banks, the militant basslines and tabla samples of Aniruddha Das, and resistance vocals from the Indigenous Krikati people of Brazil.
