about

This track is a meeting of indigenous drumming patterns from Turtle Island meeting the traditional drumming and experimental electronics from Uganda and Dhangsha.
The track starts off with what is described as a "honour beat" a distinctive drumming pattern that is used to signal indigenous dancers for example at events like a pow wow that this is a moment to really show their best dance moves. In this track Kabaka Klacity Labartin from Uganda exhorts the indigenous traditional dancers Apachita, Mapu and Dehco who are members of the Atuadub dancers to showcase these ancestral moves.Ras Isaacs from Sankara F.D.R then creates a hypnotic groove anchored by his djembe drumming while Dhangsa adds alien noises, diissonant and experimental electronic noise and texture to the track. The video clip accompanying this clip shows Mapu & Apachita who are of Mapuche & Dine ancestry doing traditional indigenous dance moves to this track.Mapu is doing Aztec dance and Apachita is doing a shawl dance. Thanks to Tapedave for editing this clip for us and for Dehco
who is Apachita's 11 year old brother for doing the camera work.
